We are pleased to invite you to join the online workshop “Transcribing the Past: Citizen Scientists and Automation in Historical Demography”, which will take place on 29 January via Microsoft Teams. The workshop is organized by the Department of History of Ghent University in collaboration with the HiDo network and the GREATLEAP.
The workshop brings together researchers and practitioners working on the transcription of historical demographic sources, providing a forum for discussion on methodological approaches, challenges, and recent innovations. The programme focuses on two closely related themes:
-
- Citizen science in historical demography, and
-
- Automation and digital methods for transcribing historical records.
The event is open to all colleagues with an interest in historical demography, digital humanities, and the processing of historical sources. We warmly welcome researchers, students, and heritage professionals who wish to follow the presentations and discussions.
Participation is free, but please register here.
Please find the full programme and MS Teams link to join the meeting here.
